Russia Ready to Team Up with NATO
Russia is ready for partnership with NATO all disagreement notwithstanding, President Dmitry Medvedev announced Saturday, when addressing the Council on Foreign Relations, PRIME-TASS reported from Washington.
Russia isn’t particularly pleased with NATO’s expansion towards the RF borders, but it doesn’t mean Russia and NATO cannot have full-fledged relations, Medvedev made clear in a gesture of goodwill.
Russia-NATO Council has the potential, the president went on, reiterating that it wasn’t Russia that had escalated the situation and suspended partnership.
Medvedev said Russia is ready for any development of events, including building friendly relations with the alliance.
As to the financial crisis, according to Medvedev’s aid Arkady Dvorkovich, the president called the current financial collapse the crisis of the 21st century and urged to set up a group of prominent economic analysts to assess the situation and elaborate proposals to oppose that global challenge.
The president suggested creating a commission of leading economic experts, the financial Gurus, to assess the global financial crisis and fight it, Dvorkovich told journalists Saturday, Interfax reported.
