Russia Not to Deploy Missiles in Kaliningrad Under Certain Conditions
Russia won’t deploy missiles in Kaliningrad under certain conditions, President Dmitry Medvedev made clear in the interview with French Le Figaro. The decision to station the missiles there was taken in response to the unilateral actions of the United States to deploy components of their missile defense shield, Medvedev specified.
Russia may completely abandon the idea of stationing missiles in Kaliningrad if the new administration of the United States once again analyzes aftereffects of its decision to deploy a radar station and interceptors, analyzes their efficiency and a raft of other factors, including to what extent these means are adequate to respond to the threats of the so-called rogue states.
According to Medvedev, Russia is ready even for the zero variant and it will be the absolutely normal escape. What’s more, Russia may proceed with working at global defense system involving the United States, EU and Russia.
As to relations with President-elect Barack Obama, Medvedev said he counts on building normal full-fledged partnership relations and on finding the ways out of the situations, which couldn’t be found with current colleagues.
