New National Security Strategy Coming
A new national security strategy is being developed in Russia for the period through 2020, Interfax reports, citing the press service of the National Security Council. “It is an important political document containing the officially acknowledged goals and strategic priorities and measures in domestic and foreign policy,” the press service elucidated.
It was also noted that the document is a systemization of strategic planning. “It is used to tie together the activities of state bodies and state, corporate and public organization for the defense of the national interests of the Russian Federation and to guarantee the security of the individual, society and state,” the press service stated.
“The Russian Federation will strengthen its national security through the improvement of national defense, state and societal security, the strengthening of statehood, guaranteeing stable economic growth, the solution of social and demographic problems through socio-political, institutional and socio-economic reforms, the development of civil society and support for national nongovernmental organizations,” the press service continued.
It was also reported that secretary of the Security Council Nikolay Patrushev will hold a number of meetings this year at various locations in all federal districts to discuss strategic national security projects. “The opinions and positions of the subjects of the federation are especially valuable in this sense because the future national security strategy through 2020 will address the solution of regional national security issues,” the press service noted.
