Delegation of Georgia's Church Heads for Moscow
A delegation of Georgian Orthodox Church left for Moscow November 4 to negotiate with spokesmen of Russia's Orthodox Church.
It is the first visit of Georgian churchmen to Russia after the August events. The purpose to attain is confirming canonical rights of Georgian Orthodox Church in the conflict regions and straightening the existing misunderstanding, Georgian News reported with reference to a spokesman of Georgia's patriarchate.
The delegation is led by Metropolitan Gerasime of Zugdidi and Tsaishi, who heads the External Affairs Department at Georgia's Patriarchate. Amid its members are Metropolitan Grigoli of Poti and Honi, Archbishop Andria of Gori and Samtavisi and ex-ambassador of Georgia to Russia Zurab Abashidze.
The agenda sets forth meetings with His Holiness Patriarchy Alexy II of Moscow and All Russia, Metropolitan Kirill of Smolensk and Kaliningrad and representatives of Georgian Diaspora. The Moscow visit of Georgian churchmen will last till November 9.
