Poland to Help India with Soviet Weapons
India's military authorities are interested in getting the assistance of Polish military to upgrade the weapons purchased from the Soviet Union, Defense News reported.
The matter at stake is the T-72 tanks, BMP-2 infantry combat vehicles and the missile defense systems. Representatives of Polish embassy in India have expressed general readiness to help India with the upgrade of those weapons.

Polish Defense Minister Bogdan Klich is currently in India, where he intends to visit certain enterprises that produce military facilities. Production and upgrade of military facilities and the joint research in that field are amid the highlights of the visit.

The Armed Forces of India operate not only the infantry combat vehicles and missile defense systems of Soviet make, they also have Soviet jets and vessels in the arsenal. India continues military cooperation with Russia, from which it buys new weapons from time to time. Last year, for instance, the countries clinched a deal for supplies of 347 T-90C tanks, while this year, they have agreed about the supplies of 18 Smerch long-range salvo fire systems.
