London High Court Counted Assets of Roman Abramovich
London High Court released its ruling specifying the assets that belong to Chukotka's Parliament Speaker Roman Abramovich.
The file of 134 pages was elaborated by Justice Christopher Clarke in respect of the lawsuit lodged against Roman Abramovich, Russia's billionaire owner of Chelsea Football Club. The court dismissed the suit that related to ownership dispute with oil producer Yugraneft, reasoning that Abramovich wasn't permanently living in Britain and was no tax resident of the UK.
Under the ruling, Abramovich spent 57 days in Britain in 2007 and Chelsea was the purpose of nearly all visits. His visits to U.K. last year ``were almost exclusively related to his attendance at football matches,'' Clarke said as quoted by Bloomberg. ``Such visits are not the sort of visit that necessarily suggest an intention to make England one's home.''
In addition to Chelsea, Abramovich owns four villas in Britain, three of which he left to his former wife and their children. He is also the owner of two ski chalets in Colorado, a Caribbean villa in St. Barts, a house in Sardinia, several yachts and a chalet in France, Clarke found out. In Russia, Abramovich owns a house of Leonid Brezhnev in Moscow and a certain historic building that he rented from Russia's authorities for long term.
Abramovich has freighted a few private jets and yachts to move between Britain, Russia, Europe and the Caribbean Islands. He also uses private helicopters for Europe's trips. The billionaire uses yachts and jets under the lease terms, the ruling specifies.
