20,000 Protest at U.S. Embassy
More than 20,000 people gathered in front of the U.S. embassy in Moscow to protest the policies of the U.S. government. The action was organized by the Nashi pro-Kremlin youth movement, but the level of participation far exceeded their expectations. The protesters carried pumpkins and American flags on which names of people they say died as a result of American aggression were written. Presumably, those are people who died in Tskhinvali in August of this year.
The demonstrators erected a large screen opposite the embassy and showed a speech by U.S. President George W. Bush with an altered translation. Several news agencies have reported that the action was entitled “The American Show: The Results of Halloween.” and was intended to highlight “all the evil American policy has brought the world.”

Traffic on the Garden Ring, the major ring road around downtown Moscow on which the U.S. embassy is located, was reduced to the flow of buses bringing demonstrators in from other cities and the crowd formed between the Barrikadnaya Metro station and New Arbat St. The event last about half an hour.
