Medvedev Blamed Unfair Competition on Washington
The sanctions that the United States imposed on Rosoboronexport and its subsidiaries won’t affect Russia to the great extent, RF President Dmitry Medvedev made clear today. According to Medvedev, the sanctions were a short-sighted step of Washington.
The U.S. government promulgated a ruling that imposed sanctions on Russia’s weapon exporter Rosoboronexport October 23. The sanctions will last for two years. Washington had made similar steps in July and December of 2006.
The formal reason was that Russia had breached the Iran, North Korea and Syria Nonproliferation Act. In addition to Rosoboronexport, the United States imposed its sanctions on the entities from China, North Korea, Sudan, South Korea, Syria, the United Arab Emirates and Venezuela. All of them are accused of spreading technologies that could be used for production and/or delivery of mass destruction weapons.
The sanctions ban the U.S. government’s organizations from trading with and/or being serviced by the companies added to the black list.
