Neustrashimy Sets to Mission
Russia’s Neustrashimy (Fearless) frigate has set to executing its mission near the Horn of Africa, said representatives of the information and PR service of the RF Navy.
Neustrashimy has set to executing the mission ahead of schedule. It will apply all means sanctioned by the U.N. Security Council to ensure safety of Russia’s vessels, the officers of the RF Navy emphasized.

“If needed, the ship may take part in joint operations against pirates together with the vessels of foreign Naval Forces,” the officers added.

Neustrashimy is a multipurpose warship that defends a naval task force. Its key aim is to destroy ships and submarines of the enemy, ensure the anti-submarine, anti-aircraft and anti-ship defense for the vessel squadrons.

Neustrashimy was sent to Africa’s coasts after Somali pirates hijacked Faina vessel of Ukraine, which master was the Russian and which was delivering tanks. According to available data, Russia’s resident died aboard the ship after its capture.
