Russians Build Turkey-Syria Pipeline
The Russian Stroitransgaz company has signed a contract for the construction of a natural gas pipeline from Aleppo, in northern Syria, to the Turkish shore. The deal is worth $71 million. The length of the pipeline will be 62 km. The pipeline is to be built within 18 months.
This is not the first Stroitansgaz project in Syria. In 2005, it began working on the Arabian Gas Pipeline, with a total length of 317 km. That pipeline will stretch from the Jordanian-Syrian border to Al-Rayan in the United Arab Emirates. The pipeline will allow Syria to receive natural gas from Egypt.

Besides its projects in Syria, Stroitansgaz operates in Saudi Arabia, India and Algeria. It was granted the right to build the pipeline in the UAE in mid-2008.
