MICEX Halted till Oct 13
The Moscow Interbank Currency Exchange (MICEX) suspended the trading at 12:40 a.m. MSK till October 13 or till a special notice of the Federal Financial Market Service (FFMS), RIA Novosti reported. The exchange stopped following the surge in certain stocks. The index soared by over 15 percent during a few trading hours.
RTS continues to operate in the usual mode. Its index grew by nearly 12.5 percent by 12:50 a.m. MSK, and whether this stock exchange will be brought to a temporarily stop is yet unclear.
Russia’s exchanges benefit from rather insignificant demand for the stocks to adjust after the slump of many days. The quotes have been always shedding until recently in the absence of buyers.
The oils look better than others on Russia’s floors October 9. LUKOIL soared by over 27 percent on MICEX, Rosneft climbed 21.7 percent and Gazprom gained 20.2 percent. The aggregate Oil & Gas Index soared 17.29 percent on RTS.
