RTS, MICEX Resumed Trading after 3hr Break
Russia’s stock exchanges, RTS and MICEX, have resumed trading after the break of three hours. MICEX reopened at 1:00 p.m. MSK in preliminary mode to operate full-scale starting from 1:15 p.m. MSK and to close at 6:45 p.m. MSK.
RTS fell 0.37 percent to 863.17 straight after the opening but adjusted 0.58 percent up to 871.42 by 1:18 p.m. MSK. The MICEX index soared 2.21 percent to 768.65 by 1:18 p.m. MSK.
The Federal Financial Market Service halted the MICEX and RTS trading at 10:00 a.m. for three hours October 7.
RTS stopped twice October 6 and MICEX had three breaks that day, each time because of the slump of the indices. RTS collapsed 19.1 percent and MICEX shed 18.66 percent by the end of the trading day. The RTS decline was the record one over all history of Russia’s stock market.
RTS and MICEX last slumped September 16 and 17, when the RTS benchmark sank by over 11 percent and MICEX dropped 17 percent. Both indices rolled back to three-year minimums, forcing the Federal Financial Market Service to suspend trading for two days.
