Russia’s President Is a Video Blogger Now
Russia’s President Dmitry Medvedev has added a video blog to the official web. In the first video (WMV file), the president disclosed highlights of his speech at the global policy conference to be held in French Evian October 8.
The video was shot in Medvedev’s office. It shows that the president has three computers with two of them operating Windows XP (the third one was switched off). The desktop of at least one computer has a photo of Dvortsovaya Square of St. Petersburg, the home city of Russia’s president.
The Kremlin web will regularly release videos from now on, the president’s press service promised. Quite a number of policymakers, including European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso and German Chancellor Angela Merkel, use that format to get in touch with the nation.
Medvedev proved he was a skilled user of PC and Internet, even when he was holding the office of the first vice premier in Russia. At that time, he also showed he was the connoisseur of Internet folklore and memetics, which isn’t the common practice amid Russia’s policy makers. The president didn’t manifest that knowledge in his first video for some reason.
