Iran Invited Russia to Domestic Markets
Teheran is interested in wider presence of Russia on domestic markets of Iran, Iranian Vice President Ali Saidlu made clear during bilateral meeting with Russia’s First Prime Minister Viktor Zubkov that was held in Astrakhan.
Iran welcomes Russia on domestic markets, Saidlu said, specifying that the matter at stake was oil and gas cooperation and aircraft construction.

The Bushehr project was another highlight of the get-together of Zubkov and Saidlu. Finalizing the project would mean a lot both for Russia and for the Middle East nations, Iranian official pointed out.

Although Saidlu didn’t give the date for the launch of Bushehr power plant, he specified that Russia intends to complete the work by late 2008.

Russia is constructing the first unit of Bushehr nuclear power plant under the agreement concluded with Iran in 1992. The contract with Atomstroiexport was made in January of 1995. The project was started by German Kraftwerk Union A.G. Siemens/KWU and Atomstroiexport has been working on the site since 1998. Iran expects to launch the power plant in 2008; Russia delivered nuclear fuel for it in early 2008.
