Rubble to Depreciate 4.8%
The RF Economic Development Ministry forecasts Russia’s ruble to depreciate 4.7 percent to 4.8 percent to the U.S. dollar in September, RIA Novosti reported.
Russia’s ruble has weakened 4.7 percent to 4.8 percent to the U.S. dollar in September, according to the preliminary outlook of the RF Economic Development Ministry. At the same time, it has appreciated 0.2 percent to 0.3 percent to euro and 1.3 percent to 1.5 percent to the pound sterling.

The ruble has appreciated 1.9 percent to 2.0 percent to dollar, 6.4 percent to 6.5 percent to euro and 16.9 percent to 17.1 percent to the pound sterling from January through September (September of 2008 vs December of 2007).

As to the inflation, the forecast of the RF Economic Development Ministry is from 10.0 percent to 10.2 percent during nine months. The September inflation is forecasted at between 0.4 percent and 0.6 percent.

Consumer prices surged 10.2 percent by September 22, Russia’s statistics authority Rosstat reported. The official annual outlook of the government is still 11.8 percent.
