Yamadaev Killed After Important Meeting in Kremlin
Leader of one of the most powerful clans in Chechnya, ex-State Duma member from United Russia, Ruslan Yamadaev was killed straight after the Kremlin meeting with a top-ranked bureaucrat of the RF president’s administration, Ruslan’s brother Issa Yamadaev told Vremya Novostei newspaper. The fact that former commandant of Chechnya, Retired General-Colonel Sergei Kizyun was in the same car with Yamadaev is another proof of this supposition, Issa Yamadaev pointed out.
The Mercedes S600 with ex-member of the State Duma, Russia’s Hero Ruslan Yamadaev and his friend Sergei Kizyun, the former first deputy commander of the Leningrad Military District, was shot down in Moscow yesterday. Yamadaev was killed and the general taken to hospital.

According to Issa Yamadaev, his brother was returning from the Kremlin, where he might have discussed problems of Defense Ministry’s Vostok Battalion that Ruslam Yamadaev had created together with Kizyun.

Either by threats or by promises, the battalion fighters are often enticed to divisions controlled by Chechnya’s President Ramzan Kadyrov. The threats are more frequent now, Issa Yamadaev said.

Ruslan Yamadaev and his brothers were threatened continuously, Issa specified. A month and a half or two months ago, he went on, two vehicles with close relatives of the Vahabites killed during the battles with Vostok left Chechnya for Moscow; the order was to kill elder brothers. The family informed FSB and Defense Ministry’s GRU, but there was no response, according to Issa.

Investigators have also spotted the trace of Chechnya’s leadership in the crime. Detectives that examined the place of the accident attribute the assassination to clashes of Yamadaev brothers and Chechnya’s President Ramzan Kadyrov – the latter publicly declared them criminals and enemies of Chechen nation. But the generals that are in charge of investigation insist on pursuing all leads, including business wars and blood feud.

Anyway, the experts on Chechnya foresee the blood feud and inter-clan war. Ruslan had brothers, and one of them is powerful Sulim, the recent commander of Vostok battalion in Chechnya.

The comments of the State Duma Security Committee are also interesting. There, they view the killing as challenge to authorities. “The attack and assassination of R. Yamadaev in downtown Moscow in broad daylight shows that the criminals challenged authorities. In that way, they as if said: “We do what we want,” pointed out Alexander Gurov from the committee.

What’s more, lawmakers of the Federation Council found Georgia’s trace in the crime. According to Federation Council First Vice Speaker Alexander Torshin, the criminals wanted to kill Sulim Yamadaev, who had led Vostok battalion that opposed Georgia’s assault on Tskhinvali.

The murder was ordered and politically motivated. Its aim was to destabilize situation in the Caucasus before October 12 parliamentary elections in Chechnya, Torshin explained, adding that Chechnya’s President Ramzan Kadyrov would be the last person interested in it.
