Russia Inked Friendship, Cooperation Treaties with South Ossetia, Abkhazia
Russia inked Friendship, Cooperation and Mutual Aid Treaties with South Ossetia and Abkhazia. RF President Dmitry Medvedev, South Ossetia’s President Eduard Kokoity and Abkhazia’s President Sergei Bagapsh sealed the respective documents in the Kremlin Wednesday.
Russia will prevent another aggression of Georgia and is ready to provide aid to South Ossetia and Abkhazia, including the military one, the RF President Dmitry Medvedev announced September 17.
“Recurrence of Georgia’s aggression - and unfortunately, they don’t conceal revanchist sentiment there, the militarization of that state continues - would result in catastrophe of the regional scale. So, don’t doubt, we won’t allow a new military adventure,” Medvedev announced in the Kremlin after inking the Friendship and Cooperation Treaties with Abkhazia and South Ossetia.
Of interest is that the treaty of Russia and Abkhazia allows the residents to have double citizenship. The parties will conclude a separate agreement for this purpose.
Russia recognized independence of South Ossetia and Abkhazia August 26 and the diplomatic relations were established past week.
