Chavez Expels U.S. Ambassador
Venezuela’s President Hugo Chavez gave 72 hours to the U.S. Ambassador to Venezuela Patric Duddy to leave his country. Chavez said he expelled the ambassador to show support for Bolivia.
Chavez has also called off Venezuela’s Ambassador to the U.S. Bernando Alvarez “before they kick him out of there.” The ambassador will return to Washington when they have a new government, Chavez vowed.

“That’s enough from you, Yankees,” Chavez announced via the national TV, claiming that “they are trying to do here what they were doing in Bolivia.” “I hold the government of the United States responsible for being behind all the conspiracies against our nations,” The AP quoted Chavez as saying.

Before ordering the U.S. ambassador to leave Venezuela, Chavez announced that his government unmasked conspirators plotting to overthrow him. Amid the detained are both the citizens of Venezuela and the U.S. citizens. Backed up by the United States, a group of military officers planned to explode the presidential palace. Those were the same officers that had taken part in the abortive coup d’etat of 2002, the president pointed out.
