Russia Revises 2008 NATO Cooperation Plan
Russia is revising its 2008 plan for the military cooperation with NATO, Interfax reported Wednesday with reference to unnamed but well-informed source with the military and diplomatic community of Moscow.
“In the wake of alliance decision to suspend Russia-NATO Council, we will revise the military cooperation plan,” the source said. Within the framework of military cooperation, over 10 joint actions were scheduled by late 2008, including the events with involvement of Russia’s military and the military of NATO. “More likely than not, these actions will be cancelled,” the source pointed out.
Russia’s-U.S. exercise for opposing aircraft terrorism that was slated for late August, the Far East, has been called off, the source reminded.
“It was announced yesterday that the RF Defense Ministry refused to accept the U.S. Ford Frigate, which business voyage to Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky was slated for September 5-9, 2008” the source said.
