Nation Develops Confidence in Medvedev
More and more Russians are positive when evaluating Dmitry Medvedev’s actions in capacity of the country’s president, signal the polls of social analysts. Some 76 percent of respondents trust the president, All-Russia’s Center for Public Opinion Studies told Interfax Wednesday with reference to the poll of August 16 and 17 that covered 42 regions of Russia.
When it comes to the nation’s confidence in the president, the half-year trend is obviously positive; some 64 percent of respondents trusted Medvedev in January and their number stepped up to 76 percent in August.

Of interest is that the higher the education of respondents, the more positive they are when evaluating the efforts of president (70 percent of the Russians with secondary education and 76 percent with high education).

What’s more, Medvedev is most popular with the younger generation. Some 52 respondents in the age group of 18 to 24 years old think he performs his duties very well and well, and only 42 percent are of the same opinion in the age group of 45 to 59 years old.

As to the emotions that the nation feels towards the president, the leaders are hope (49 percent) and respect (28 percent). At the same time, 8 percent of respondents are indifferent to Medvedev and he has disappointed or made skeptical 3 percent.

Asked about peculiar features of the president, the nation tends to single out his intellect and intelligence (44 percent), professionalism (31 percent), even temper and activity (23 percent each). The respondents appreciate him for “closeness to the nation and ability to understand its needs” (13 percent), “decisiveness and courage” (13 percent), “simplicity and modesty” (13 percent).
