Saletnig Stripped Russia Of Medal
Interference of Mario Saletnig, FILA Vice-President and technical delegate of wrestling tournament, to the men's 74kg Greco-Roman bout between Olympic champion Varteres Samurgashev of Russia and Peter Bacsi of Hungary led to Samurgashev’s defeat. The event will be the highlight of tomorrow's sitting of FILA, Ves Sport (All Sport) agency reported with reference to FILA European Committee Vice President Georgy Bryusov.
“We have been notified that FILA holds meeting tomorrow and it will be dedicated to the interference of technical delegate Mario Saletnig into refereeing of the 74kg quarterfinal between Russian Samurgashev and Hungarian Bacsi, and to everything resulted from that interference,” Bryusov said.

It isn’t normal that a technical delegate unanimously cancels the decision of referees. We are thoroughly studying all documents of FILA, but we haven’t found any clause about the authority so brilliantly executed by Mr Saletnig.

By stepping in and annulling three scores gained by Samurgashev, Mr Saletnig actually predetermined the outcome of the quarterfinal. While demoralized Samurgashev was trying to realize what had happened, the encouraged Hungarian attacked him, gained a score, the first and the second rounds.

But no matter what FILA decides tomorrow, the result of Samurgashev- Bacsi bout won’t change, Bryusov pointed out.
