Georgia to Pay for Destruction, RF Foreign Minister Said
Georgia should pay for destruction in South Ossetia, said Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
As the aggressor, Georgia should pay for rebuilding of ruined villages. It’s quite different matter with no relation to Russia’s decision to appropriate huge amount of money to the unrecognized republic, Lavrov specified.

The budget adjustment commission of the RF government resolved to appropriate 10 billion ruble to rebuild Tskhinvali and other settlements in South Ossetia affected by the attacks of Georgia. The money has been set aside for 2009.

Not only federal authorities, but leaders of Russia’s regions, including Moscow, are ready to extend a helping arm to South Ossetia.

Officers of the RF Emergency Ministry that have arrived in Tskhinvali are helping residents to clear the city of wreckage, including the destroyed armored vehicles of Georgia. The plans are to carry out a portion of rebuilding before it gets cold, and electricity and water supplies are the highlights today.
