Medvedev: Russia Will Punish for Deaths of Compatriots
Russia won’t tolerate deaths of compatriots in South Ossetia, RIA Novosti reported with reference to the RF President Dmitry Medvedev.
“As president, I must defend lives and dignity of our citizens wherever they are,” Medvedev declared during the extraordinary sitting of the RF Security Council in the Kremlin. “We won’t leave unpunished deaths of our compatriots. The guilty will carry the well-deserved punishment.”

Big numbers of volunteers are ready to go to South Ossetia “from Russia and other places,” and keeping peace isn’t easy, Prime Minister Vladimir Putin pointed out in today’s conversation with U.S. President George Bush, Putin’s briefer Dmitry Peskov told the reporters.
