Vice Speaker of Russia’s Parliament Compared Saakashvili to Hitler
Backed by warplanes, Georgia troops are attacking South Ossetia’s capital Tskhinvali. Lyubov Sliska, who is the vice speaker at Russia’s parliament, has compared Mikheil Saakashvili to Hitler when commenting on the start of the war.
Georgia’s President Mikheil Saakashvili is a criminal of war, committing crimes against all humanity. “He is like Hitler, when the latter attacked sleeping Russia,” Sliska said.

“Why are the nations divided into the first, the second and the third grade? Why, having moved aside all international laws, is the independence of some of them recognized by force of the U.S. Department of State?” the vice speaker posed a rhetoric question, specifying that, for some reason, “the region that declared the will to unite with North Ossetia at the referendum 15 years ago, the nation that doesn’t want to be a part of Georgia” cannot count on such recognition.

Not only Russia’s peacekeepers but the peacekeepers of states that want peace in the region should step in now, the vice speaker pointed out.

The timing of Georgia’s attack on South Ossetia has been chosen deliberately – the opening day of Beijing 2008 Olympics. Georgia might have expected the whole world to watch the Olympic Games, which would distract attention from the conflict area. “Everything has been ideally planned,” Sliska specified.

Meanwhile, South Ossetia’s Prime Minister Nikolay Khlyntsov announced that the republic is ready for receiving the wounded and refugees from Tskhinvali. “There is no evacuation, no refugees but we are ready to receive them,” people in South Ossetia’s Emergency Ministry said.
