Russia Counts Money Generated by Weapon Export
Russia will generate over $8.5 billion from armaments export this year, RIA Novosti reported with reference to Mikhail Dmitriev, chief of the Federal Service for Military and Technical Cooperation.
The worth of armament export was $7.5 billion past year. On aggregate, the portfolio of combat vehicle orders, including domestic orders, amounts to $33 billion.
It was reported in early July that Rosoboronexprot will supply to foreign clients the weapons and combat vehicles worth more than $6 billion. The respective task was set by President Dmitry Medvedev, said Rosoboronexport Director Igor Sevastyanov.
The growth in export of Russia’s weapons will continue, Dmitriev forecasted, predicting that Russia will gradually win back the share of the Soviet Union on global market of armaments.
But Russia’s industry is yet unable to cope with all available orders, as it lacks the respective capacity and experts. As a result, the clients stand in line to defense enterprises of Russia, and the queue consists of 10 to 15 foreign partners, including China, India, the Middle East states, Algeria, Morocco and Venezuela, according to Interfax.
