Russia Counts on Constructive Influence of U.S. over Georgia
Russia expects the United States to exert influence on Georgia in the wake of aggravation of its conflict with Ossetia, Deputy Foreign Minister Grigory Karasin told U.S. Assistant Secretary of State Daniel Fried during the phone conversation, RIA Novosti reported Monday.
“Russia expresses deep concern due to another turn of tension around South Ossetia, illegal actions of Georgia for building up its military presence in the region, constructing fortification without any control,” the statement said.

“Russia has called on Tbilisi to follow the line of responsibility and counts on constructive influence of Washington,” the RF Foreign Ministry specified.
