Russia to Help Flood-Hit Ukraine, Moldova
Russia’s Prime Minister Vladimir Putin has committed the Foreign Ministry and Emergency Ministry to provide humanitarian aid to the regions of Ukraine and Moldova that suffered from flood, RIA Novosti reported with reference to the government’s news service.
Authorities of Ukraine and Moldova addressed the international community July 30 seeking assistance to eliminate aftereffects of the flood. Russia responded in no time, without elaborating on the essence of promised aid.

Heavy shower of past week increased the water level in the Dnestr and Prut river basins to the extent that sufficed for flooding dozens of thousand houses, dozens of thousand hectares of farming land, for destroying hundreds of bridges and the roads of hundreds of kilometers in Ukraine. Over 600 settlements are still under water there, while the death toll exceeded 20.

The disaster hit neighboring Moldova and Romania. More than 500 houses were flooded in Moldova and over 4,000 persons were evacuated from suffered regions.
