Prices Stood Still for a Week
The slowdown in Russia’s inflation is notable at last. The prices stood still July 22 through 28, Russia’s Statistics Committee Rosstat reported Wednesday.
The inflation was 0.5 percent from early this month and 9.3 percent from early this year. The figures were 0.9 percent and 6.6 percent respectively in July of 2007 and the prices grew 0.9 percent if taken for the whole July of 2007, Rosstat reminded.
The average daily growth in consumer prices reflects certain slowdown in inflation. It was 0.018 percent July 1 through 28 vs. 0.032 percent in June and 0.028 percent in July of 2007.
As to past week’s indicators, rice and salt manifested the highest growth of 0.9 percent, while beef, sausages, canned meet, millet and certain confectionery grew 0.4 percent to 0.5 percent and eggs and cheese lowered 0.4 percent and 0.2 percent respectively.
Petrol and diesel fuel prices grew 0.4 percent over the week on average.
The recent slowdown notwithstanding, Russia’s authorities intend to upgrade the annual inflation outlook from 10.5 percent to 11.8 percent for this year.
