Russia’s Prosecutors Don’t Probe Into Mechel Yet
Russia’s Prosecutor General Office hasn’t joined the probes into Mechel mining and metallurgical company that Prime Minister Vladimir Putin criticized last week, RIA Novosti reported with reference to Prosecutor General Yuri Chaika.
“The Prosecutor General Office hasn’t stepped in yet. It is currently checked up by the Federal Antimonopoly Service,” Chaika told the reporters on Tuesday.
Prime Minister Vladimir Putin lashed out at Mechel July 24, during the meeting in Nizhni Novgorod dedicated to metal industry of the country. Putin said the company was exporting raw at prices half as much as domestic ones.
The Federal Antimonopoly Service brought in an action against Mechel on count of competition violation. It emerged on Monday that the Investigating Committee of the RF Prosecutor General Office and other enforcement bodies are probing into the business of Mechel.
