Yushchenko: Growth in Gas Prices for Ukraine Is Imminent
Ukrainian President Viktor Yushchenko declared that the growth in gas prices for Ukraine is imminent, RIA Novosti reported.
“If we honestly wish prosperity to nation and stability to energy industry, we should speak of adequate prices,” Yushchenko announced at the conference Thursday. In Russia, gas prices for the population are higher than in Ukraine, the president specified.

Yushchenko reminded that the prices for gas that Ukraine receives have stepped up 2.5 fold in the recent years.

The gas imported to Ukraine costs $179.5/ths cu meters in 2008, but the price was just $130/ths cu meters in 2007.
