Russia, India Negotiate Smart Tank Creation
Russia and India have set to negotiations about designing a combat tank of the next generation, which will leave behind all available tanks in terms of speed, firepower and automatic control.
The parties have held preliminary consultations on the smart-tank project, news service of Indian government reported with reference to Uralvagonzavod General Director Nikolay Malykh.

The negotiations will continue in the nearest future at the expert level, during the International Technology Seminar On Future Main Battle Tank held by the Indian Land Forces and Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).

According to Malykh, Uralvagonzavod had offered to India to jointly design the next-generation tank far back at the turn of the century, but it was India that proposed the current talks.

The tank is expected to emerge as a real breakthrough. It will have the gun of up to 152mm and its control system will provide for getting tactical data from spying jets and satellites.

The designers will equip the tank with a new weapon-control system, enabling the crew to detect targets in optical, infra-red and radar spectra.
