Putin Will Attend Olympic Opening
Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin will attend the opening of the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing. The official opening ceremony will take place August 8. According to Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, Putin will take part in the ceremony “leading the team of Russian fans.”
Lavrov also told RIA Novosti that, during his visit to China, the prime minister will hold several meetings with Chinese leaders to discuss trade and economic issues. At present, Lavrov is in China. He made the announcement of Putin’s attendance at the Olympics at a press conference on July 21.

The Summer Olympics will take place in Beijing from August 8 to 24.
