Russia, China Settled Demarcation of Amur Islands
Russia and China have finally resolved frontier problems. The parties signed Monday a border demarcation pact for the line via the Amur River. Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and his Chinese counterpart Yang Jiechi inked the respective document July 21, 2008.
Until recently, the demarcation line of Russia and China hadn’t been completely determined in its eastern portion, to be more precise in part of four islands in the Amur River.

The pact that specifies a border line in eastern Russia has finally settled demarcation of border negotiated for more than 40 years, the RF Foreign Ministry said in the statement.

The Chinese tour of Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov commenced July 21. The plans are to deliberate on the chances to further promote strategic partnership and mutual understanding of Russia and China, exchange opinions on a raft of international issues that are of mutual interest to both states.
