Ukraine Introduces Bread Cards
Bread cards are being introduced in Ukraine and residents of the cities will get them in early August, Mayak broadcaster reported. The cards will be given to the poorest with the income below the living wage. There are 100,000 of them in Ukrainian capital Kiev.
According to officials, Ukraine introduces bread cards to provide the address aid to the poor. “Thanks to the social cards, the people will be able to buy some kinds of bread should the prices rise for them,” said Vasily Yastrubinsky, who heads the price policy department in Kiev.

Ukrainian authorities intend to drop subsidizing practice for lack of efficiency, the bureaucrat specified.

And the timing of this aid is perfect. The prices for bread are forecasted to double in August. The reason of imminent surge is that the bread production lacks efficiency with today’s prices. According to media reports of early July, bakers intend to request the cabinet to abandon subsidizing, as it threatens production stability.
