Medvedev Hands Putin National Projects
Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has appointed Prime Minister Vladimir Putin chairman of the presidium of the Council for the Implementation of Priority National Projects, Interfax reports. Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Zhukov and presidential aide Arkady Dvorkovich were named deputy chairmen.
Named to the presidium were Deputy Prime Minister Viktor Zubkov, Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Alexey Kudrin, Minister of Health and Social Development Tatyana Golikova, Minister of Economic Development Elvira Nabiullina, Minister of Regional Development Dmitry Kozak, the speakers of both houses of the parliament Sergey Mironov and Boris Gryzlov, Deputy Prosecutor General Alexander Buksman and chairman of the Public Chamber Commission on Social and Demographic Policy Alexander Ochirov.
The president is the chairman of the Council on National Projects. It is made up of members of the government, members of the presidential executive staff, governors, party leaders and representatives of public organizations. It is an advisory organ to the president, who develops measures for the implementation of the national projects. The presidium is the main working body of the council. Medvedev was chairman of the presidium when he was first deputy prime minister.
