Audit Chamber Chief Named Acts of Greatest Corruption
A few federal acts in Russia provoke corrupt practices, RIA Novosti reported with reference to Audit Chamber chief Sergei Stepashin. The act on state purchases is one of the most corrupt laws in the country, the official specified.
The bureaucratization extent of the act on state purchases is so high that it should undergo an expertise and forthcoming revision as soon as possible, Stepashin said. The Wood Code is another example of corruption, according to the audit chief. It is necessary to probe into it in the nearest term.
Nowadays, speaking in support of corruption battle is a trend in the bureaucratic community of Russia. It emerged in April 2008 that a special committee for fighting corruption will be soon set up in the country and President Dmitry Medvedev will be its chief. Moreover, Medvedev signed a ruling to oppose corruption April 19 and a special counter-corruption plan is expected to be released to the public at large one of these days.
