Ophthalmologists Probe Into Ocular Damage Caused by Laser Show
Moscow ophthalmologists are deliberating on the most probable causes that led to the damage of eyeballs of the youth that attended Aquamarine Techno Music Festival held in Russia’s Vladimir region roughly a week ago.
The official reason, i.e. the improper use of laser at the discotheque, raises questions, a source with the medical community said on condition of anonymity. According to eye doctors, the real cause could be the drug consumption but this lead calls for additional checking.

It emerged Monday that roughly 30 people went to the Moscow clinics after Aquamarine Techno Music Festival to seek treatment for ocular problems, to be more precise for retina burns. The use of a laser gun during the festival was named as the possible reason of eye damage. Contrary to existing safety rules, that gun was directed at audience several times during the show.

But ophthalmologists revealed no retina burns in the end, while the actual diagnosis was etimopathy of hemorrhagic form, as all young victims had haemorrhage on the eyeground and retina. The number of patients reached 12, including five girls and seven boys.
