Georgia Pledged to Hit Russia’s Jets
In Tbilisi, they pledge to hit Russia’s jets should Georgia’s air be violated. Nika Rurua, who is the deputy chief of parliament’s committee for defense and national security, made the respective statement, Echo of Moscow radio station reported.
If Russia’s jets again violate the air of Georgia, they will be gathering their fragments, the hawkish policymaker said, specifying that Georgia’s response to Russia’s aggression will be calm but tough.

The Armed Forces of Georgia are well-trained and equipped to rebuff any provocation, Rurua said.

Another escalation of militant rhetoric of Tbilisi roots in the new aggravation of Russia’s-Georgia’s relations. It emerged yesterday that Georgia recalls its ambassador from Russia for consulting. According to Georgia’s Foreign Minister Ekaterina Tkeshelashvili, Georgia made this step in response to Russia’s announcement about its jets flying over Georgian territory.

The RF Foreign Ministry declared earlier that Russia had prevented Georgia’s invasion in South Ossetia. According to Russia’s diplomats, the peacekeepers’ commanders informed July 9, 2008 about potential invasion of Georgia’s troops in South Ossetia to release four servicemen detained by enforcement bodies of that breakaway republic.

Russia’s jets made a short flight above the territory of South Ossetia and this “step cooled hot heads in Tbilisi and prevented situation’s development under the force-using scenario, which probability was more than real,” the RF Foreign Ministry pointed out.
