Russia’s Car Market Nears Europe’s Leadership
In terms of sales, the car market of Russia may become the biggest in Europe by the end of this year, said Stanley Root, who is the partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers.
According to Root, some 3.6 million to 3.8 million cars will be probably sold in Russia this year. The expert made out his outlook based on the H1 sales, which grew 41 percent on year to 1,645,000 cars.

The sales of Russia’s cars reached 380,000, while the sales of foreign cars of Russia’s assembly equaled 290,000. The buyers acquired 785,000 new imported cars and 190,000 used cars of foreign make.

The worth of the country’s automobile market stepped up 64 percent to $33.8 billion during six months.

Foreign automobile consortiums have developed strong interest in the car market of Russia, which is generally thought to be very promising. The result of their great expectations is the big number of new automobile plants that assemble foreign cars in Russia and the interest that nonresidents manifest towards the existing automobile plants of the country.
