Nizhni Tagil Hosts Russian Expo Arms
The 6th International Exhibition of Armaments, Russian Expo Arms, opened in Nizhni Tagil-town of the Sverdlov region July 9. The exhibition shows the record number of Russia’s defensive products, RIA Novosti reported with reference to Rosoboronexport Deputy General Director Igor Sevastyanov.
Russian Expo Arms 2008 has lured roughly 500 enterprises from Russia, Sweden, France, Switzerland, Belarus and other countries. Russia’s manufacturers present about 200 export models of armaments, including Su-24 and Su-27 combat jets, Mi-24 and Mi-35 helicopters, new models of armored vehicles and aircraft missile systems.

The aim of the exhibition is to widen the sales market for Russia’s armaments as well as the number of foreign partners in military and technical cooperation. Another purpose is to manifest to the world at large the capacity of combat vehicles, armaments and weapons that are made by Russia’s manufacturers and arm Russia’s military forces. And last but not least, attracting foreign and domestic clients is, perhaps, the prime concern of the exhibition participants.

Russian Expo Arms that is expected to be visited by representatives of 47 states will last till July 12.
