New Plan for Olympic Facilities Ready
The first plans for the placement of the mountain Olympic village will be presented today, stated Minister of Regional Development Dmitry Kozak at a meeting of the presidium of the Russian government. He noted that ministry immediately began choosing a new location for Olympic facilities. A new site has already been found for a bobsledding course that the International Olympic Committee has already approved.
Kozak said that the new site does not encroach on the national park or nature preserve and does not cause ecological damage. He added that designer have already begun working. Kozak said several options are being considered for the Olympic village. Two of them will be seen this evening. They will meet all requirements. Kozak noted that the changes will require new roads to be planned as well.

Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin announced on July 3 that the bobsledding course, mountain Olympic village and water treatment facilities in Sochi would be moved in consultation with the IOC. President of the state corporation Olimpstroi Viktor Kolodyazhny promised the prime minister that schedules would be maintained even with the changes in plans. The moving of the bobsled track was moved out of the buffer zone of the Grushevy Ridge state nature reserve in connection with demands of ecologists.
