Hostages of Pirates at Lehmann Timber Are OK
The condition of Lehmann Timber crew captured by Somali pirates and consisting of residents of Russia, Ukraine, Estonia and Burma is satisfactory, RIA Novosti reported Tuesday with reference to Ukrainian Foreign Ministry.
The pirates captured Lehmann Timber dry-cargo vessel of Germany in the Gulf of Aden May 28. There were 15 aboard the vessel, which master is the resident of Russia, four sailors are from Ukraine, one – from Estonia and nine – from Burma.
“A phone conversation with the Lehmann Timber captain was held June 30. The captain said all members of his crew are aboard and their moral condition and health are satisfactory,” the ministry announced based on the official information provided by Ukrainian consulate in Hamburg, the whereabouts of anti-crisis staff for releasing the crew.
