Politkovskaya’s Killer Is in Europe
The killer of journalist Anna Politkovskaya is hiding in Western Europe, said Alexander Bastrykin, who heads the investigating committee at the RF Prosecutor General Office.
“The case against the actual executor has been singled out into separate proceedings. According to the information available to us, the killer has gone into hiding in Western Europe. We even know the country, where he is,” Bastrykin told the journalists Tuesday.

Novaya Gazeta investigating journalist Anna Politkovskaya was killed October 7, 2006 in the entrance of the apartment house at Lesnaya St., Moscow. The figurant of the case, Rustam Makhmudov, who is thought to be the killer, is on the international wanted list.
