Sukhoi Positions Self on Fighter Market
The Sukhoi company intends to strengthen its position on the global aircraft market and to increase the share of Su-brand fighter jets to 12 percent of its production, according to a press released posted on the company’s official website on June 25. It is planned to increase production through 2015 by increasing export deliveries of Su-27SK and Su-30MK fighters and to produce a series of Su-34 and Su-35 complexes. Then, between 2015 and 2025, the entrance of fifth-generation fighters will guarantee the company’s place on the market. Design of the new fighter is underway at present.
At present, Sukhoi is Russia’s largest exporter of aviation technology. The company delivered about 50 Su fighter jets to external markets last year. For comparison, the American Lockheed and Boeing companies delivered 41 F16C/D and 12 F-15E models, respectively.

According to the Sukhoi annual report for 2007, Su-24, Su-25 and Su-25 planes made up more than 60 percent of the frontline fleet of the Russian Air Force. Bombers, assault planes and naval aviation are all fully equipped with Su-model planes.
