Each 5th School Leaver Got Bad Mark at Math Exam
Over 21 percent of Moscow school leavers got bad marks at the Unified State Exam in mathematics this year, Olga Larionova, who heads the city’s education department, told the reporters Wednesday.
In Moscow, 21.3 percent school leavers got bad marks at the Unified State Exam, the satisfactory marks were put to 37.2 percent and the share of good and excellent marks was 29.5 percent and 11.9 percent respectively.

“I think that one of the reasons of these results of the math [exam] is wording of the tasks,” Larionova said when expressing her concern about the poor math knowledge of the city's youth.

The results of exam in the Russian language echoed past year’s indicators, when the Unified State Exam wasn’t mandatory and lots of Moscow school leavers passed it in traditional form.

This year, some 16.7 percent got excellent marks at the Russian-language exam, 41.8 percent had good marks, 37 percent got sats and 4.5 percent had bad marks.
