Putin Scored the 2nd in Global Confidence Rating
Of eight national leaders, Russia’s Prime Minister Vladimir Putin rates the second in terms of inspired confidence. Some 32 percent of the polled trust ex-president of Russia. Secretary-General of the United Nations Ban Ki-moon rates the first (35 percent) and Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf is the last of the eight.
The third leader is British PM Gordon Brown that inspired confidence in 30 percent. He is followed by China’s leader Hu Jintao (28 percent), France’s President Nicolas Sarkozy (26 percent), U.S. President George W. Bush (23 percent) and Iran’s President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad (22 percent).
As to Putin, he enjoys the greatest support of the nation. Here, 80 percent approve of his moves in the foreign policy, but no more than 11 percent in Spain, Turkey and Jordan trust the ex-president of Russia, and 85 percent in Palestinian territories don’t trust him at all.
The Russians also support German Chancellor Angela Merkel that rates in the group of regional (European) leaders. Some 38 percent in Russia said they trust her and no more than 23 percent announced the opposite. U.S. President George W. Bush is trusted less than any other world leader here (66 percent of negative answers), while Ukraine’s Viktor Yushchenko has the lowest confidence rating on Europe’s stage (62 percent of negative answers in Russia).
WorldPublicOpinion.org polled 19,751 of 20 countries with the 60 percent of the world population. Levada Center covered the Russian portion of the poll, which statistic error doesn’t exceed 4 percent.
