The Teens Commit Less Crimes Nowadays
The number of crimes committed by teenagers in January through May lowered by 15.6 percent on year to 50,654, Interior Minister Rashid Nurgaliev announced Monday.
The number of gravest crimes committed by teenagers lowered by 21.8 percent, and the number of grave crimes went down by 23.8 percent. Past year, teenagers committed 15,600 less crimes than a year ago.
Another concern is the number of crimes committed against children and teenagers. Over 70,000 crimes of this kind were committed in 2007, including some 6,000 by relatives and guardians of the youngsters. The death toll reached 2,500, Nurgaliev said.
Nearly 180,000 files to sue the parents were executed past year, 50,000 claims were forwarded to the courts and 36,000 parents were deforced of the parent rights by results of the trial, Nurgaliev specified.
