Russia Bans Cheese of Lithuanian Biggest Maker
Russia’s farming product supervising authority Rosselkhoznadzor imposes June 16 a temporarily ban on products of Lithuanian biggest cheese maker, Rokiskio suris, RIA Novosti reported with reference to Alexei Alekseenko, the briefer at Russia’s supervisor.
The ban was imposed, Alekseenko said, as the Lithuanian producer breached sanitary regulations of Russia. The experts revealed excessive concentration of bacteria in the cheese of its make. The restrictions don’t extend to other producers of Lithuania, he specified.

The ban on the cheese of Rokiskio suris will be lifted as soon as Lithuania guarantees safety of its product and confirms correspondence to Russia’s sanitary standards.
