Poland to Reduce Staff of Russia’s Embassy
Poland’s Foreign Minister Radoslav Sikorski announced the plans to close embassies in 16 states. Overall, Poland will call back 200 diplomats, Dziennik reported June 12. The embassy in Moscow will go through the greatest reduction of staff.
According to quite a few Poland’s diplomats, the strength of the embassy was too big and it was a clear holdover of communist Poland. The number of 150 was a peculiar response to big numbers of Russia’s diplomats in Poland.

The reduction in staff will make the embassy up to European standards, said Poland’s Foreign Ministry’s spokesman Pazkovsky. The official specified neither the standards nor their requirements in part of the embassies' strength. He explained that, nowadays, when arranging a global video-conference causes no problems whatsoever, there is no need to have lots of diplomats in Moscow.
