Ukraine to Bolster Russia En Route to WTO
Ukraine will help Russia become the WTO member in the nearest future, Ukraine’s Vice Premier for European International Integration Grigory Nemyrya told the reporters on Thursday.
Ukraine has joined the working group on Russia’s accession to the WTO in May, almost immediately after it turned into the full-fledged member of that organization.

“Membership of our neighbors in the organization that is built under the strict rules, transparent rules of the game and disputes’ consideration is vital. It meets national interests of Ukraine and makes more promising the use of potential that exists not only inside our states (Russia and Ukraine) but also in the broader region in general. So, Ukraine will be helping Russia in every possible way to become the WTO member already in the nearest future,” Nemyrya vowed.

Speaking about the beginning of bilateral negotiations of Russia and Ukraine would be too early, Alexei Portansky, who heads the information center for Russia’s accession to the WTO, said earlier. Ukraine announced an intention to launch such negotiations but it hasn’t applied officially, Portansky explained.

Russia has completed all bilateral negotiations with 60 partners and the country’s authorities count on entering the WTO in late this year or at the start of the next one.
